92 2 door XJ budget daily/weekend wheeler build
#91
I'll take some photos of it soon! Didn't actually take any while I was in there. But my rear passenger is the only place I'm needing a floor pan. Hole is big enough to stick a foot through basically, and the rust goes up the trans tunnel so that'll need work too. It needs it lol. The other floor pans just need a bit of repair, mostly patchy surface rust. I know there are a few pinholes basically in the front floor pans, so I'm going buy a piece of sheet metal as well just to patch those.
I think I'm going to use a rust converter as well, POR15 likely, and then undercoat.

Yea sounds like mine... My passenger side was the worse already had a patch on rear passenger section. Also rust up on my trans tunnel too so need to fix that to adjoin to the floor pans I ordered last night. Drivers side I think I can just patch one area and then basically so the same cleanup you are doing. I want the POR15 but that's not cheap stuff but there is a reason why lol.

Well, not the next update I had expected. The time finally came, and the XJ is SOLD. Picked up a new truck, and it was time for the XJ to go to a new home. Wish I didn’t have to, but I wanted to get into a truck, and keeping both was not going to happen right now. Went to a good home and got a good price. I know I’ll get another XJ down the road, but a cheap one that I can’t keep low, cut the fenders, armour up, and really wheel. Not be scared to rub some trees and such. Here’s one of the first, and one of the last pictures I took. And also the replacement rig. 2005 Chevy Silverado 2500HD with the Duramax diesel. Crew short, fully loaded tan interior aside from sunroof and adjustable foot pedals. No rust, lift was brand new just installed, same with exhaust and a front end rebuild. In good shape.

Nice XJ and glad you got what you wanted out of the deal but sorry it had to go. Not sure I like those mud flaps on that new truck though kind of odd. How are the tires it was hard to tell in the photos what condition they were in.

yeah sucks it had to go! And the mudflaps are stainless steel, powdercoated. They’re on there because here in BC you legally need full tire coverage. Truck had 7” of tire poke and I got pulled over and handed a full vehicle inspection notice. So those are what I went with. They’re called kickbacks, and give tire clearance for the big tires. The tires are in good shape too. However I don’t like them so will be going with different tires, an MT for sure.

I already have plans in my head for another XJ when I get one haha I definitely want a wheeling rig again. It’ll be a cheap one, something I’m not afraid to rub against trees and such. Build plans go through my head lol
