It’s Recorded as “Part #5534 5177 Rest, Spare Tire (Not Serviced)” in the Mopar Jeep Parts Catalog 1991-1993. it’s #3 in the diagram. Technically, that answers the question. But the goal is to find and purchase. Neither the part number, nor the description is helping me locate the part. So the question is, how do I find it?
You can find #11 on ebay. Good ones, too. As for #3, what does it do? Looking at the pic i assume its to keep the tire off the trim panel. Is it rubber, plastic, or steel? Is it flat with just a couple holes? If so, making one should be relatively easy. For example, make a base out of steel or even plastic, shape it etc., then cover that with an adhesive backed piece of neoprene, felt, or a even an old inner tube cut to shape. ???
It is just a piece of plastic made from the same material as the interior trim panels the prevents the tire from leaving rubber marks on the trim panel. I am deployed so I can’t take a closeup pic of mine but I found some pics online.
There was also a vinyl "screen" on some optioned earlier XJs. It mounted via plastic mounts where that piece is and another on the other side. It pulled back and covered anything in the cargo area. Needed both rear "hooks" to make it work also.
I grabbed the whole shebang from a 92 XJ about 8 years ago at the pick-n-pull. Figuring it was a rare option. I have all the pieces, screws AND the roll-up shade cover.
I should slap it on eBay sometime. I don't think it fits post 96 models.
