Thanks, bud! Yeah the kids love it. Definitely a family activity we can all really get on board together!

Welp, here 'goes... Project slow n' steady...-photo5.jpgWelp, here 'goes... Project slow n' steady...-photo473.jpg front on mine is limited by shocks and I think rear may be also limited by shocks. I plan to get boostwerks shackles and shock towers for the rear. Leaf springs will flex pretty well if setup right. Obviously the front has long arms so it does well. Setting up the rear with no lift shackle boxes, a good full leaf pack, and the re shackles did well. Right now I’m running 10†travel shocks in the rear in the stock location, but I hang myself on the shock mounts a lot.

I was looking at the boostwerks, amazing quality, but no flex gains over RE. Just doesn't put as much stress on parts and bushings. If there is flex difference it's marginal, not worth the extra $$$ to me. But if you wheel often I bet it makes up in maintenance over time.

I try to wheel at least once a month. I heard it also helps out ride quality a bit too.

I had the drop ones with the old rear setup. I completely redid the suspension though. I actually don’t think any suspension parts are the same as they were last year. The old set up flexed well too. It was rough country 3†full pack with 2†eBay shackles, rough country SRBs. The rear end just felt kinda sloppy with all that height from the shackle and the shackle boxes, and I hung myself up on the spring ends a bit.

They recommend a sway bar with it, causes more body roll I guess. But shocks play a bigger part in that I think.

The bilstein 5100s with a front sway bar keeps it pretty stable with my current setup. I’ve never felt like I had almost rolled it on the road. Honestly I do slide it occasionally usually when it’s wet though. I need to get another car so i don’t kill myself driving the jeep like a race car. I’d definitely like to at least try the shackles and see how it goes, but $$$$

No sway bars for 3 years, no stabilizer a year, locked for a year and a half, and never a worry. But i drive like an old man

Are the boostworks the ones with Heims?

Flex joint like RE superflex arms They flex to let parts not bind as much when flexing. I'm sure they help with some flex but from what i've seen and heard from owners it's not significant compared to a standard boomerang shackle, but less stress on parts equals to a longer life of bushings and such for the frequent wheelers.

AH yeah I just went to their page. It is kind of a heim-like joint. I thought these were really cool when I saw them.

Did a little pit-wheelin' on Saturday. Had a blast even though my whole family bailed on me lol. Got more video than I did pics. I'll edit them and upload them to youtube, then I'll post the link once I do.

Here's some pics in the meantime...

And yes.... I did break something lol... but it wasn't on the rock garden. There was a hill I was determined to climb, but there was a little bit of a wash out below a root that was keeping me from doing it. Tried to back up a little and bump it, no such luck... so I figured I'd hit it with a little speed and more momentum up the whole way... well....

Yeah so the stupid U-joint strap bolts broke off in the yoke.... which of course caused the side of the u-joint that was still secured to be twisted off.... it was just as well though. It was already about noon and I still needed to go home and sleep for work that night.

As far as those stupid u-joint straps - never again!!!

And I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the c8.25 swap before I snapped the D35 next... looks like the driver's side axleshaft may already be bent to begin with.

Oven cleaner from the Dollar Tree... makes a great de-greaser for only a buck! Might wanna wear a mask though.

And here's a little bonus for ya... easy way to collect metal shavings. Take a glove and wrap it around a speaker magnet or even your magnetic parts bowl. Pick up the shavings, then peel the glove off and it's all contained.

Looks like a blast! For the cost of a 8.25 it's a no brainer. Lock it and send it!

Yeah buddy!

This one actually has the factory LSD in it already, so I'm gonna run it. Might have a trade in the winds for the same axle with open 4.10s, so I'm not going to put any money into this one.

I did, however, paint it just like all the other cool kids do.

Oh yeah, and it's getting disc brakes too.
