When a kid with my first car I went on a oil filter trip.. I would take apart all kinds of oil filters.. It was easy. I was the kid changing oil at the shop I worked. So I have opened enough filters looking at different makes trying to find the best.. Well its all about the silicone vale and where the high pressure bypass valve is located.. The best filter I have found that have both valves in the best location is WIX and Motocraft.

Did you pay your youtube bill? lol This one appears to be unavailable Duma? But I run the Motorcraft because it is much cheaper than the Wix and I change my oil religiously at 4-5k. If for some reason it gets to 6k I am slapping myself...

I added suppressor to my "top of the line Fram" statement as an indication of what I really think of them. They might work ok on the end of a barrel to reduce hearing damage but that's the only reason I'd buy one short of an emergency.

On my '90 I tried Wix and one other that I trust, probably a Puralotor Pure One or Motorcraft, don't recall which but I believe they're the same thing minus the paint. Both of those and whatever's on it now and waterer was on it before I bought it all drained. There aren't a lot of upside down filters on engines but I don't recall one that didn't drain. That said, I don't know any connection between upside down filters and shortened engine life other than knowing that it can't help to have delayed oil pressure. Filter drain-back is the reason I've avoided using oversized filters on the Renix, it'll take longer to re-fill.

Well done man. Can I share my thoughts about the stick stuff? Bad compound in that piece and the oil additives are turning it to jelly.

it all started out when I was going to rebuild my first 351m ford motor.. When I was a kid I had to pay for everything myself. I didnt want a bad filter messing me up.. Plus it was just curiosity. I love trying to figure out how things work.

See now, I think they should have turned the adapter 90 degrees down vertical instead off to the side horizontally. This would keep the whole system full to the galleys and not allow any air back down in it.

Holy cow... I wonder what it is and why it's there? that stuff gets loose and you might get a plugged lifter.

Its dissolves real fast when you play with it. But its super sticky.

Also the screen,,Thats Frams attempt to stop things getting in the motor from wash over. Instead of changing the location of the high pressure valve on their high end filters. they just keep the same old design and put more filter media and a screen lol.. Yeah Fram that's really high end

Check your oil after shut down as normal then again in the morning and see if it went way up, mine does. When I do my Renix oil changes I generally drain the oil hot and wait a few hours or overnight to pull the filter so it's empty and doesn't spill all over. If yours stay full then maybe it's something else going on with mine, every filter I've used seems to drain back. Maybe I have a bad o-ring in the adapter allowing the drain-back.

First thing I noticed is the screen is too BIG! It will definitely allow chunks through that could stop up a lifter or score a bearing.

Have I mention lately how much I absolutely hate automotive engineers? I am now convinced that they are paid to screw stuff up on purpose.
