Hey there. Newbie here trying to do my own work.. replacing rear axle bearings ..there was slight in and out play in the rear wheels. This may or may not solve the problem.. anyways. Im under the impression that my 96 2dr sport l6 has a d35 in the rear. I ordered the axle bearing kit online like a guy with way too much faith. There were two tags, maybe 3 on the diff cover. One said 35. The other says 2626 or something like that.. the third is in the diff oil at the moment... axles came out fine and easy.. oil seals needed some persuasion and looked funny.. had a lip on the outer collar i guess i wanna call it.. so the seals in the kit look different and are smaller OD and no lip (see pics) . So.. the micrometer indicates that the OD of the old bearing and seal are the same size as the chrysler 8.25 rear end.. Am I trippong?? Any advice would be awesone
Seal with lip
Mine looks strikingly like the top unit.. same flat edge around the pumpkin .. 13mm bolts.. rubber fill hole. The seals i ended up with did not have the lip and ended up recessing a few mm inside the axle tube ..but it seemed to go back together functionally.. thanks for the replys. I do sincerely appriciate it.. i seem to remember someone saying the 8.25 is a more desireable unit. Is this true ? And why ? Thanks again
