It is clean. Super clean.

But it's also yellow.

And 2WD.

2k tops. Maybe 2.5 on a good day.

That's all relative though, what are clean 2WD's going for near you now? Find several, average the prices vs how many you find, and add 500 on top of that, see what sticks.

Shoot I would gladly give him $2500 for it. Been looking for a new DD and that would be perfect! I dont mind the yellow.

Weirdo. Haha...

You live near me. You know what XJ's go for around here. Seeing as it's SoCal, and everyone's out of their ever loving mind out here, I went with a more realistic number, LOL...

As I stated, he needs to get a realistic price from what his area sells them for, pad that amount a bit, and see who bites. I always ask for slightly more than what I'm willing to take, just because of lowballers.

I'd pay $3k for it here. Miles are meaningless to me, but it is clean, and clean (aka rust-free) is gold in these parts. However, a 2wd XJ is also pretty poop in these parts. I used to think that a 2wd XJ could be OK in our winters with the proper tires and driving caution, but I have those things and still manage to break the rear end loose too often for my liking when I'm in 2wd. Yeah, if it was around here, and I was lookin', I could see paying something like $3-3.5k for it.

I love the yellow personally.

Oh, and the yellow thing? That's me just hating yellow...never have liked it on any vehicle. Yellow is for bananas, haha

For instance, here's how much I hate that color...I used to frequent garages sales/flea markets/estate sales quite a bit, and came across a Honda Hawk GT 650 at a garage sale for $1100, couldn't pass it up...looked just like this:

Name: HondaHawk.jpg
Views: 200
Size: 90.4 KB

Cool bike. A tad small for me, but had always wanted one, they were way ahead of their time...V-twin, naked, cafe style, with a single sided swing arm out back...way cool.

I hated the color so much, I rarely rode it, and wanted to paint it, but other things were more pressing at that time, like mortgage and child support...my roommate at the time (idjit) offered me $2500 for it (after I got it in top shape), and I jumped on it...he promptly wrecked it, after a night of drinking at a bar less than a block away from the house.

I've never forgiven myself for selling it to such an incompetent boob. But I feel better knowing there's one less yellow vehicle on the road today. HA

You don't see too many of the 2WD variants up here where I am in the NE rust belt, so it is hard to compare with anything, but given the condition and lack of rust, and super low miles, that would be a $4500 vehicle for my location. Part of that premium is just that the demand for low cost, low mileage, rust-free, vehicles is pretty high here in general.

I'm seeing prices for clean low mileage XJs sky rocket in the last few years all over the country. Some are area specific, some are dealers holding out, but there are still quite a few listings that sell (ebay and the like where tracking sales is easy) for decent sums of money in XJ terms.

I've been watching the market like a hawk in central Florida since I moved here (spent 20+ years in the PNW so I knew that market well). The prices down here are very different, and I've seen more 2wd XJs for sale in the last year than I ever did back home. All that being said, the value can be quite high if you market it towards the right person (ie: budget collectors, XJ specialty shops) due to it's super clean status and low low miles.

For anyone looking for a yellow 2WD XJ, that one is a rare gem.
The only downside, its not a 4x4..

I'd ask a lot more than $2500.

...wanted to convert it to 4wd and all but just don't have the motivation...
Know what you mean by the motivation thing.
Having that problem myself lately.

.
yea just don't want to be bothered working on the toys lately.. just sold a 65 dodge p/u because i just didn't have the time or motivation to do what i really wanted to do with it.. have a 70 dart that i have to finish tweaking, have my red cherokee that i have some stuff to do on, an 8 year old that we have to run all over for sports and camps and now school again and with this rainy summer i seems like i'm always out mowing the damn lawn. lol.. this yellow one is cool as hell though.. always wanted a yellow one. just not sure if i want to convert or not.. i have a front 30 laying around, have a t-case, have the driveshafts, trans would be easy.. just work that i'm not sure i want to do.. plus i'm not putting anything that i haven't rebuilt into a 26,000 mile jeep.. i'd want to rebuild the front diff.. new ball joints, bearings seals hubs etc.. same with a trans and transfer case...

You reminded me of one of the best cars i ever owned, an old Dodge Dart.
Think it was a '74, red with the slant six. That car made it cross country a few times.
Traded it in for a Dodge Daytona, then traded that in for a Dodge Shelby Turbo Z Daytona.

Now for misery loves company, the mowing thing!
Yep, that dam mowing the lawn and accompanying weed whacking.
Hate it. Basically a waste of time far as i'm concerned with dozens of other projects waiting and cutting precious hobby time.
To add insult to injury the mowing has to be done on warm sunny days with no rain in sight.
Total waste of nice Summer days which are semi-rare around here.
And for me with all the acreage around the house, barn, etc. and ATV trails back in my woods, mowing takes up the better part of the day.

I agree that XJ is cool as hell even though yellow isn't my cup of tea.
If it were me i'd keep it totally stock as is and put it up for sale for a few months for a decent profit and see what happens.
Can always upgrade it later if it don't sell.
Just my 2 centavos.
