Took it flex testing. Still cant find any place to take this thing to get a wheel off the ground. Need to do some grinding on the shackle boxes so that the shackles can move more. They are limiting up travel right now.
Went back to sound deadening. Did the hatch. Did not use any foam because of that big carpet padding type piece. All that is back together. Found a little rust in both my wheel wells. Really can't do anything about the driver's side cause the filler neck is in the way and it is way down. Passenger side I wired brushed quick and put a couple coats of POR 15. Waiting for it to dry so I put the Dynamat in the driver's side. Not going to use any foam behind the plastic here either. So at least the driver's side is all put back together.

That rust in rear lower quarters is commonplace in salt belt vehicles. I was stunned when I first bought my Jeep and was a noob. I thought I went over the XJ with a fine tooth comb for rust. Only to find out about this rust after removing my rear bumper end caps for painting.
The passenger side had a big rust bubble the size of a mans fist. Jeep for whatever reason had a little almost drainage hole on the back side of these rear lowers. If your looking at the rear lower, it's on the opposite side lower under the vehicle. They stuffed a little rubber cap/seal in the whole from the factory. But after years winters and salt, the hole would get eaten at or the cap would fall out, then the rust begins from the inside out. Like what happened to mine.
Someone actual did a bondo and paint job on mine in order to try and remediate some of it. Didn't help much. I'll be cutting it out, folding the remaining metal up and welding in some sheet metal. This will complete the cut and fold mod.

I have seen Jeeps running without bumper caps and you can see how rust had formed under them when they were on. That one or two straight lines of rust is pretty funny. When I removed mine for the first time expected to see that but no. Nice clean paint there.

Great good to hear!
Your Jeep is becoming a museum exhibit. Looking good!

Thank you but my Jeep is not clean. I mean it is pretty pristine compared to some I have seen. It has its share of scratches and dings. The two passenger side doors are rusting at the bottom. The inside lip, ya know that part that folds over, is almost gone on both of them. I am OK with it cause it is a Jeep and also doors can be removed and replaced. If I come across the right set of doors, black with the same badging as mine, for that side I could see myself snapping them up and swapping them out.
Edit: Forgot to mention the clearcoat on the top of the rear passenger door. A couple shots to see.

Okay okay, museum piece in the making. You put a lot of work into that Jeep. Jeep-Sainthood.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate all the support I get here. But it is you guys who build these awesome Jeeps that deserve credit like that. Intense mods, outta the box thinking to achieve a goal, make it work, all to be able to do what you want your Jeep to do. I never really compliment anybody on their work because it is a given. I read most if not all the build threads. Hey 15 maybe twenty years ago I would be trying to duplicate most if not all I read about. Thinking maybe with a 50% success rate. LOL.
