Jealous of the gear swap. I go back and forth the 3.55 are fine with my 31s the way i drive but have thought of 32s or 33s on my next set. The ARB i would love to have as well.

Autos come stock with 3.55s right? What tires are you thinking of getting? I am excited for the locker for sure. Not excited for the price tag but I think it will be a worthwhile investment especially since it means only paying for labor once.

Time for an update. The gear break in went well. When I changed the fluid in the rear diff there was a lot of metal and I got worried and had the shop look at it. They checked the wear pattern and everything for free. Everything was fine, I was just being overly safe I guess. Better safe than sorry though.

The gears (4.10s) have made such a huge difference. The jeep is even more of a dream to drive now. Not to mention the locker which has saved my bacon more than once already.

Overall I am happy with the location of the compressor and the switches. I originally wanted the compressor under the hood and the switches placed next to the factor ones for the rear defrost and wiper. Turned out there was not enough room in either place.

This is where the switches ended up

My dads M416 jeep trailer getting some love

Also I'm pretty sure I was charged for the CKMA12 compressor but arb sent the one with the twin cylinders instead so I ended up with the big compressor for the price of the medium sized one. I'm not complaining

I just got back from an 8 day desert camping trip with my dad and his brothers all of whom have awesome jeeps. It was a great shake down trip for the new gears and the locker. I would have been up **** creek a few times without them.

I also put in new speakers and a new deck before the trip. They are nothing super impressive but compared to the stock set up it sounds fantastic.

Heres a few pics of the jeep all cleaned up after the trip.

Alright so I had quite a bit of rubbing with the stock fenders and flares. I want to get 33 inch tires at some point in the future but I am having trouble deciding what to do with the fenders. What do you guys think would look the best? New flares? Cut fenders with no flares? let me know and if you have seen a good looking 2 door with nice fenders post a pic or a link.

Thanks for reading

We just trimmed before we bedlined my girl's with 3.5" and 31"s and there's plenty of space for 33s, with some bumpstopping of course. I am not so fond on the look but it doesn't look too bad. I'm most likely going to buy her some pocket flares in the future.

Great picture. I kinda like how that looks to be honest. Thanks!

Small update

I haven't done anything major but I thought y'all might like this small diy project.

I removed the seat and seat belts and kept everything of course. I ended up with some free lumber from an uncle who is moving out of town. I like how it turned out, I'm no carpenter but it is functional. There are two trap doors that allow me to store things down in the footwell of the rear seat. It also opened things up for sleeping quite comfortably in the back.

Thanks for looking

That is almost EXACTLY what I want to do with the rear. I took out my back seats after bedlining the interior and was looking for a good base for a storage. Although maybe I will raise it up a few inches and add pull out drawers in the back and allow for additional storage.

Love the build so far!

Default It's been awhile

Hey everyone, it has been a while! The 2 door has been treating me well for the most part but I have some interesting things to update you on.

First of all....I have electrical gremlins.

Randomly one day my jeep started making a loud clicking noise when the brake pedal was pressed. I couldn't find anyone online having the same issues. Most people reporting a similar noise were having problems with their brake booster. My brakes worked just fine but the clicking noise was so odd. The oddest thing was where the noise was coming from, the front fender panel above the drivers front tire. Upon removing the panel I found that when the brake was being pressed the small pump for the rear wiper fluid was being powered continuously......

My rear wiper has never worked so I just disconnected the fluid pump and taped it. Problem solved for now. But, yeah, I think theres some weird electrical stuff in this jeep because the connector to the brake pedal is a 6 wire and I looked them all up in the factory service manual and the only thing that makes sense to me is that the wires that go for the cruise control (which I don't have) have got something to do with it. Anyway it was bizarre.

The other thing of note is that my transmission, nv3550 in this case, is pretty well shot at this point. Unfortunate in that I only just hit 116k miles. The quotes I got for a rebuild were out of my price range at the moment so I decided to buy a brand new ax15 from novak. It was on sale as well for the holidays so that was a bonus. My father and I are going to try and tackle the swap which I am excited to do.
