As an officer in Oregon told me once, "anything not blue and below the mirrors is legal to have on at any time." Now I don't know if that's from the bottom of the mirrors or top and he didn't say anything about them needing to be covered.
Was able to see quite "fine" with mine as well LOL [obvious sarcasm is obvious, whitewash does nothing for anyone]
On a more serious note, personally I love the "rectangular" look on a "rectangular" vehicle. I think round lights look better on Wranglers with the round headlights. Of course since the Wranglers have a flat windshield, they don't look too bad with light bars either. Fill the empty space quite nice AND double as a solid sun visor:
And for reference, that's the same bar that was on my old XJ:

Ultra bright light @ night not only plays havoc with your NV but can cause sleep & metabolism issues as well. Guaranteed if the chicoms make it, somebody, somewhere, will buy it. lol.
I'd like to go a different approach. I want to have hellaciously bright LEDs on my Jeep... but hidden so you don't know they're there. Maybe take single LEDs and mount them in various places in the roof rack, grille, mirrors and bumper where you can't see them unless you're looking for them. It would be a rather large undertaking to wire all that up, but it would be funny to see the entire front of the Jeep unexpectedly become the sun.

LOL, I can see the police making you put tiny little covers on the them all. Will have to have the wife knit something up.

That's just it, they wouldn't know they were there unless they saw the premature sunrise coming over the horizon. Even then they would have to look closely, because there would be no obvious light bar.
