Welp. That's that. I was building this Jeep for work, sort of. To write installation articles and video for our website. But now my position has been eliminated - and I'm stuck with this unfinished beater that I can no-longer afford parts for.

I don't know. It's just a bummer.

I still need so many parts for this Jeep, my back/ribs are all ****ed up (good luck finding temporary manual labor, jerk!)

Bummer. I'll talk to you guys later.

I'll still throw you some money if you find me those inner fender seals Brother.

And it takes a special kind of jerk to do that to an employee who just injured himself.

Well, friend, I got nothing but time, now. I'll see about heading up there in a few days, when my back is feeling better. 5 days in and things are starting to loosen up.

Don't worry, y'all. I'm still here, and I'm still rebuilding this Jeep. I researched these things for over a year, and I "sold" myself on owning a Cherokee long ago.

I did see an ad for a local P.I. That could be a cool job. I need a job that is interesting.

TTYL.

Received my OTC ball joint tool adapter from Amazon. Maybe I can tackle the ball joints this weekend. We'll see if my back feels up to it.

Default Ribs mending, ball joints removed.

Ok, Jerks! Time for another update.

Ribs are on the mend. I have mobility, so I cut the grass, then popped out the driver side ball joints. I'll work on removing the passenger side knuckle and ball joints today. Then I have to press the broken hub-to-knuckle bolt out of the knuckle. Maybe I can use the ball joint press to do this.

Images and updates to follow.

On the job front - I'm trying to see if Summit Racing has any need for a super guy like me. Their headquarters is just 30 miles away. A bunch of the people I used to work with (at Stylin' Trucks and JC Whitney) are there.

There's also a local steering manufacturer that might need my help. Flaming River, they build custom aftermarket steering systems. Super high-end stuff. Wish me luck!

Default Passenger Side ball joints removed, broken Swordfish brand vice.

S.O.B.

So I just broke my vice. Like for-real cracked the jaw off.
I was trying to press out the broken hub/knuckle bolt. I may have to drill it out, or get another knuckle. Or buy a press, like that A-frame from HF.

Hmm.

Jerk.

No ****! I used to order stuff from Stylin' all the time back when I had my S10, my Dakota, and my Camaro.

If that's a HF vise, I'm not surprised. Brendan and I GRENADED a brand new HF vise when trying to do his ujoints. The casting literally crumbled like it was made of gingerbread.

Default I need more drill bits!

This friggin bolt ate through most of my drill bits, and I'm only halfway through. The bits are a little Dewalt set I got on sale while ago. Nothing special, just multi-purpose bits. There's probably a special drill bit I should be using, but I am actually impressed with the performance of these.

I used like a 1/4" to punch all the way through the bolt, and I've been stepping up the bit size. But the bits keep.getting rounded off. I use a bit until it gets worn smooth, then I step up two sizes and open the hole until the new bit gets worn. I'm now on my largest bit, which by luck is the exact diameter of the bolt hole. So I have half the bolt completely drilled out, and a 1/4" hole through the rest of it. Success is in sight!

Now I have to purchase new hubs, and the other stuff for the front (tie rods, etc. Bushings, springs.) But I no longer get an employee discount. Employee discount be damned! I'm a Jeep guy now. I'm in it. Let's do this!

Can't you get a extractor in there by now? Are you soaking it with penetrating oil? Mix a little bit of brake fluid and acetone and use that for penetrating oil if you don't have any.
