progress is progress regardless of how slow. I got distracted with the Jeep and the two VW's to work on the truck while it was warm. The truck will get love once spring is actually hear and i can get it out of it's slumber and over to the house where the pole barn will be up by then lol.

 

I've been catching your Jeep and VW posts here and there. Progress has been slow on one vehicle for me. I have way to many projects going on at once. Right now I'm working on a headlight harness for the Cadillac. It keeps killing high beam switches. The heater blower motor relay is heating up also. Wires connected to it are a little burnt. Going to upgrade the relay and hope it solves it. The Jeep's Ball joints are smoked, need to wire in some diodes for the flat towing and get rid of the unlocking hubs. The Caddy and Jeep are here at my apartment. The bike is at the garage. Something happened during the big bore install. The brake lights don't work anymore. I smashed the fords bed into a carport post. Drug out my stud welder and dent puller. Probably going to address it this weekend. I also need to finish up the wiring for the reverse light bars I put on it. Then there's my shop. Have one more 3 stud corner to repair then I can finish up the insulation and begin the drywall. Had to buy a new floor jack to get the building in the air. Should've just concentrated on the extension and not got into the other issues..... All the while the parts and work is piling up for the Gremlin. The plastic peices are killing my time and budget.

 

yeah, my Golf TDI will be sitting til i can sell the Jeep. i need to do the timing belt on it(the Golf). i have all the stuff to do it i just dont have the barn up to do it. Not to mention Mother Nature has been a hormonal *****. and it has fluxuated from our current 22* to 65* and back with in the past month so things have not been constant enough for me to work on stuff either lol.

 

I got the door functioning again. Ran some 23. Haven't welded anything that thin in a long time. Burned through three times before I got steady.

Man that thing is so ugly it is awesome! My parents had a green one back in the day. They hated it. But yours is a whole different animal. Should be a blast to drive. Keep up the good work!

 

After a lot of frustration the grille is ready to go into a safe storage place until I'm ready to install.

I couldn't believe my eyes, saw a circa 1970's AMC Hornet bombing down a back street by my house, it had the pistachio green US Gov't paint scheme, really faded, either Forest Service or Border Patrol administrator's car. Wow, those AMC straight 6's really can run forever!

 

I always loved the Hornets emblem.

 

I just remembered, my sister had an AMC Hornet, Levi Strauss jeans edition. She really loved it, and drove it until it succumbed to Connecticut road salt rust.

 

I got started on the cross member for the engine. Looks crude now but I've got a long way to go before I can clean it up.


The engine is going forward two inches and down one. Once I get that set I will begin the steering. Drag link is in the way of the oil pan. Can't cut the oil pan down. The rod to pan clearance at the front is just above tolerance. I might go with a rack and pinion setup:-$
Had to lay down some practice beads. Ending up running out of gas on the cross member and had to call it quits. Got the seat mounted in where I want it so I can begin setting up he rollbar. I also put the car up on stands and leveled it out. Took a while to get it level and don't want to take it down until all angles are set.

 

While I'm deciding on what to do with the steering putting in the roll bar will keep me busy. ALOT of measure, check ,measure, cut, test fit, in and out. In and out. I ended up finding some foam pads too lay down on the floor boards to make the in and out easier.
That armrest used to be tan. My first attempt at painting vinyl. Came out really well. Have since done almost all of the interior peices.

 

I also got my plates today.

 

Haven't had much progress. Busy season for me at work and the garage is hotter than heck. Roll bar is in and the interior is coming along as fast as I can properly paint plastic and locate parts. Threw some tow bar mounts on the front. Been building a back bumper for the Jeep in the evenings. Keeps me out of trouble.

 

I have the engine set. Threw a bunch of weight at the car to get the ride height where It may be after everything is asembled
Got rid of the clock and added a tach.
The interior is coming together nicely.
