Well.... I've gotten quite a bit checked off on the "to-do" list...
Unfortunately, it's gotten longer.....
All the while having projects on my wife's car to do like cutting out the front resonator and replacing it with a pipe, replacing the tail light wiring harnesses, and restoring the headlight lenses. Also, have repair work to do on my chainsaw and string trimmer... and yard work... and honey-do.
At least I don't have to worry about ever being bored with nothing to do!
Yeah definitely! There's a lot of things on that list that I kinda classify as "surgical". Meaning, probably not going to happen until I get different DD and park the Jeep in the garage. THEN, there'll be a list on the window or hood (I'm replacing that hood with one off the parts Jeep I had - just repainted) just like that.
Just managed to read this whole thing in one sitting. Crazy seeing how far your Jeep has come. The pictures/explanations have been so nice for me to follow with how little I know about mechanics haha. Great build!

Got some more things coming down the pike. Actually did a couple minor things this weekend... well.. MY weekend was Wednesday and Thursday this week...
My CB antenna mount was starting to crack where the welds are (were). So I pulled it off and hit it with the grinder, then gave it some more/stronger welds. Plumbcrazy didn't quite hit it with enough welds to account for the stress of the antenna moving back and forth all the time. It's for sure solid now. I think I'm going to relocate it to the front left fender soon though. Didn't get any pics of it though.... was too focused on getting the job done this time around.
I also got sick of looking at the nasty floor in the cargo area... so I gave a piece of carpet a shot again. Gotta make sure to NOT spill gear oil on it this time though
Also pulled the front doors off for a short stint to the trash bins and back. When I got home, I checked the hings because I was having a hard time pulling the doors out. Turns out the copper inserts in the hinges were coming loose and jamming up the inside of the holes. Grabbed a drill bit that was smaller than the hole but just large enough to snag all of the inserts and pulled them all out. There's a SLIGHT bit of play in the doors now, but not enough to be troublesome. Doors remove much easier now.

Finally got around to throwing my LED light bar together... this is not the popular LED "Light bars" you see people driving around with today (which are technically LED Arrays, rather than light bars), but rather 4 LED cubes mounted to a metal bar in similar fashion to what people used to do back in the day with KC Daylighters and other high-wattage halogens.
Every single time I see a 50" array mounted to someone's roof, it's just WAY too much light for the situation they're running it in. Unless you're desert running, it's pretty pointless.... case in point:
Plenty of light, and if someone is in front of me on the trails, I won't blind them.
The lights are still wired to a relay with 12v power being supplied by the ignition circuit - so there's no chance of forgetting to turn them off when I shut the Jeep off. One of the other benefits to getting individual pods as opposed to the array, I can adjust each one of these indiidually... and I do have the outtermost two aimed outward so I can see further out toward the sides of the Jeep.
OH! And I can already hear someone asking "What about the glare on the hood".. honestly, it's not that bad. The light being reflected off the hood isn't enough to outweigh the benefits of the lights and what they reveal.

I started measuring and planning things out for a custom hi-lift mount for my front bumper. Even ordered a Versa-lok for it, which came in yesterday.
Basically just building off the tabs that were welded to the bumper by the bumper's PO for the 6" off-road lights he had on it. I don't have any use for the lights right now, so I've been thinking for a while about using it as a spot for my hi-lift. The bolts that were welded to it were too short though, so I cut them off and ground down the tabs (you can see by clicking on the 3rd pic down in this post) . I bought some 1/2" x 13 3.5" long bolts and I'm going to drill THROUGH the tabs, mount the bolts up through them, and weld the bolts to it, make some sleeves and perches for the jack, then probably gusset the tabs some. Should be a nice little fabrication project for a newb welder.... we'll see how it goes.
Pics once I get more progress (FWIW, I could probably get this done in an hour, but my next day off isn't until like next weekend).
Nice rig man. You know I always wanted to do that cube light set up. I thought about the curved bar but everyone has it over here theres even a camaro and a charger with them, theyre burning the style. Anyways with the cubes you can always adjust them like to the sides or what not. It looks sick on your rig. Keep up the updates
