Ya the rear main is not a fun task to do. I was to the point of setting the Jeep on fire when I did mine. But I got it done and that part isnt leaking any more.

Well the Jeep did not leak 1 drop in the garage overnight. Yet after a hour and a half of sitting in the parking lot at work, it leaks.

Did you change the valve cover gasket or oil filter adapter seal?

I have changed absolutely every gasket on the engine except the head gasket, intake/exhaust gasket, front cover gasket and front main seal. All the gaskets came from Felpro as well. When I had the oil filter adapter off, I made sure that it had no chips or dents on any of the sealing surfaces. I am fairly confident that the adapter is not leaking. I really think it might be the filter at this point. Everything around the adapter is dry. The only thing that has oil on it is the filter itself. Its a POS STP filter. I have a Mopar one coming in the mail that I am going to try.

But again, the thing that gets me is why does it only leak at work and only in the morning? Yesterday, after I went to grab some lunch, it didnt leak. I got home and let it sit over night, didnt leak. We will see what happens after lunch today.

Well after my 2 mile loop for lunch, I came back and parked it. 15 min later, I saw one little spot on the ground with another on its way. At this point, if it does not leak after I park it in the garage again, I am going to admit that I have lost my mind.

Hopefully the filter fixes it for you.

I hope so too. But at the same time, I had another thought. It could be the psi sending unit leaking out of the connector end, not the threads. It sits right above the oil filter. I will check and see if the top of the filter is wet after I get home.

Its official. I have lost my mind and I am pretty sure it was the XJ that took it. No leaks after I parked it in the garage.

But...........I am pretty sure its the psi sensor leaking out of the plug. So going to go pick up a cheap AZ one as a tester. If it fixes the leak ill get a Mopar one. I guess I could always put a pipe plug in it and just deal with no oil psi gauge for a while

CBS - Yep could have used that last night.... And BTW, still not a drop on the ground this morning. So I left it at home today for punishment.

Well my idea of buying a cheap AZ sensor did not work out as planned. Their version of cheap is like $55. I found a Crown one on Flebay for $39 shipped. I also swung by 4 West on my lunch and picked up my front shocks, brake lines and leafs. Ended up going with the 5100's for a 5-6" lift even though I am around 4". Why would I do such a thing? More travel! I think they are going to be close to bottoming out with my current bump stops. If they do bottom out before hitting the bump stop, I will simply make a raised mount for the top. Easy stuff.

Are you using full synthetic? I have found that when I had put full synthetic in my son's xj all of a sudden his engine had leaks. Switched back to a thicker blended oil and it seemed to help? I don't want to start a debate or anything, (it is just he had hardly a drop until I did that?) I am hoping I can sway my wife into putting a new motor in it next winter. (to take care those leaks right???). But we are considering selling my Xj in lieu of a 4 dr. Tacoma to travel (overland) the country when we retire (in 3 yrs).

Nope, just standard 10w-30 non synthetic. Probably only has 300 miles on it. And dont sell the XJ!

Well looks like the parts cannon has finally fired its load at me! Most of the parts came in but still waiting on more.

Dude come on. I gave you like 2 weeks to catch up. That was plenty of time. What are you doing over there!? But good news for you. I am pretty much done buying things for a little while. Bumpers will be next but I will rock the stock ones for a while. Still need to install the front Truetrac too. I got a lot of work ahead of me before I add more to the list. Should be a fun weekend.
