So, i just got this jeep monday, and i have to slam it into park and start it need gear. Someone told me that it might be the nss. I look on the trans. And i still havent seen it. Anybody have pictures or a diagram i can refer too?

 

Okay, regardless of whether it's a 4.0 or 5.2, the NSS is a screwed in switch on the driver's side of the transmission near the oil pan and just rearward of the shift cable entry. It's got a plug on it with 3 pins;

Just so you'll know, the 3 pins are for power, neutral safety, and reverse lights.
