Im not much of a stock Bug fan but the 63s are quite nice. The interior is a bit more "classy". Having said that, the only VW part left on mine is part of the shell. I will just leave you with this...
All I have to say is finally. Now to ordering 3.73s for the rear and a driveshaft from Adams. Should officially be 4wd next week! I wasn't expecting it to come this complete but I guess its not a bad thing. At least I can use the steering off it for the time being.
Not the best picture but you get the point. The 2wd axle is ready to come out! Its so nice not having rusted bolts like I see most XJs have. Everything came out super easy.
Since I degreased the engine, I can now see where the oil is leaking from. It looks like it is the rear main. So while the axle is out, I will do the rear main and oil pan seal.
Alright got a few more parts ordered for this thing this morning.
- Azzy's transfer case shifter linkage
- Core 4x4 adjustable top arms
- Motive gear 3.73s for the rear
- Drive shaft will be ordered Monday after I get the axle in and take some measurements
- Those are officially the last bits and pieces for the 4wd conversion besides a speedo gear!
If all goes as planned, next weekend will be the first official trip in to the mountains. Super excited to finally be able to use the Jeep!
Got the rear main and pan seal done this morning. Was a pain for sure. Hopefully this solves all the oil leaks. Will find out in a few days when I fire it back up.
