Thank you.
Yes. I had to reinforce the the hatch both inside and outside due to the thin metal of the hatch construction. There's a few pictures and a brief description in my build thread.

Will the hatch stay open with that jerry can full or do you need to prop it/vise grip the strut lol

The hatch will stay open but the struts will need to be replaced with something stronger as the extra weight has now exceeded their designed capacity, and it's only a matter of time before they fail completely.

Ive been searching for a higher rated strut, and may have found some through a VW (Westafalia) parts supplier. Apparently the VW guys put all sorts of things on their hatches. I'll update my page with the results.
