Installed a Pioneer radio/USB/CD player in the ZJ. It powered up, but not even a buzz. Wired it correctly per the old radio pin location diagram. Thinking it might be due to it originally having the Infinity Gold system. Its back to searching for a cure to getting some tunes.

Over the weekend, replaced the water pump with an NOS Mopar pump, and replaced the power steering pump and both lines. Bled the steering - now it works flawlessly and no more spine-tingling pump whine. Filled and "burped" the coolant system, now no more grinding noise coming from the water pump.... YAAAAAAAY! Except now the idler pulley is squeaking lol.... never a dull moment for a Jeep owner.

wired the tach, needed to boost the signal from the gm pcm with an external 12v source with a 1k 1/4watt resistor. still need to adjust the factory tach to read closer to actual rpm

wired up the jeep vss, after removing the jeep pcm there was no longer 5v reference going into the speedo to create the signal, after racking my brain a bit i decided to use a cheap USB car phone charger adaper to send the 5v ref. it basically what it does to charge a phone steps 12v down to 5v, the jeep has yet to move since i had it screaming around the neighbor hood at 2500 rpm open header so ill see if it works at a later date when i fix the massive t-case adapter leak

I deal with that all of the time going to work, usually it's truckers that cut me off. They drive like race cars out here. I use one of those 4k action cameras I got off eBay for about $40. It works great for a dash cam. I also love the people who don't realize that the left lane is for passing. Hell I've seen idiots smoking, holding their phone, and writing something down all at once. Most of the time it's either people texting while driving or putting on makeup while driving on the parkway.

Relatively easy job. Get yourself a no spill coolant funnel, makes burping the system painless.

yea i should probably do that.

got the jeep speedo working, my phone charger trick worked after tracking down a sensor grounding issue

trying to track down the trans issue, hoping its an electrical issue, and not a bad trans, that would make me an unhappy camper.
