I have a 98 jeep cherokee and its been running fine until yesterday i came home from work then went to leave again and it wont start. it has no spark so i changed the CPS, the ignition coil, and the distrubitor cap and rotor and still no spark. anyone have any ideas?

 

Maybe the ASD relay is defective, or a fuse is blown. Note the ASD relay and ASD fuse in the PDC.


#11 fuse in the JB protects (powers) the ASD relay and Fuel Pump Relay control coils, PCM, and TCM. Remove the fuse and examine it.

I fixed it it was the pick up sensor under the distributor cap

 

The parts cannon does it again.

It's the most expensive way to do repairs, but it sometimes works.

What's the pick up sensor? I've got a 99 that's been a nightmare to produce spark and I've just about replaced everything but that.

 

In models with a distributor, it's the cam position sensor. Often referred to as the CPS, just like the Crankshaft Position Sensor, just to keep us all confused.

Don't fire the parts cannon.

 

The parts catalog calls it a Switch Plate.

 

It can also be referred to as the coil pick-up sensor. It's a joy to search for but insanely easy to change
