Productive day. Got the new dana 30 updated wirh new bushings, new axle ujoints, new hub bearings, new brakes and new rotors. Got it installed under the front end. Also got the dirt bound off road racks installed. Install was pretty easy, although i had to drill out the mounting holes just to fit the hardware it came with. Tomorrow will be the 8.8 install.

I used to have an MJ. probably 8 or 9 years ago. kicking myself for selling it. Well i got everything back on 4 wheels, and i have a majorly dragging front brake. Not sure what the deal is. Both pistons compressed back into the caliper just fine. so maybe they are just shot? IDK. I hate dealing with brakes. They worked perfectly fine before the swap, so idk what to think. It was so bad at first that i couldnt even move the rig even in 4-lo

Ok, got the issue figured out. For some reason the Rotors the guy gave me, that he said went on the axle were way to Deep and were rubbing on the knuckle. I put my old rotors on that were almost and 1/8th of an inch shallower, and everything fit jsut fine, no brake drag. However in my escapade of removing and installing the calipers, i managed to strip out the slider bolt threads. SO now i get to change out knuckles, and while i have the knuckle off, i might as well do ball joints and upgrade to Cav-Fab UTK steering. Sigh, Just. Empty. Every. Pocket. BLAH! On a good note, i took her for a drive to settle all the bolts for a re-torque, and she runs at 2950 rpms at 75mph(our speed limit here is 80mph) with 32" tires(265/75/16) and is so much nicer to drive in town. NO more hunting for gears and foot to the floor while passing.

Need a pair of knuckles? I've got an extra set I'd sell if needed!

Ok while playing around with a r0m calculator, it seems as thougg i have 4.88's. At 75 mph gps verified, i am spinning ~2950rpms. According to randys ring and pinion, that is the correct ratio for 4.88s with a 31.5"tire and 75 mph with the aw4 overdrive of .75.

Count those gears man. With 4.88s, it's time for 35s!

Going to change out the front diff fluid today, so thatl give me a chance to count the Ring. I got a price on 5 STT MAXX 315/75/16 for $1500, just in case. But again gps verified, with a 31.5 tall running height i am spinning 2950 rpms at 75mph.
