Hey all, Start off I have a 2-door 1994 Cherokee on 35s with 5.5 long arm t&t lift ford rear end.

So problem I'm having is trying to get my suspension sorted it and comfortable for daily use.

Currently it has off brand shock tubes and 6" soft ride skyjacker leaf springs. And the a$$ end weighs too much for this set up so even small bumps max out the system and slap the bump stops.. Hard!

My question is what better leafs can I switch to and what kind of shocks would work best for this application? More heavy duty is what I'm leaning towards just don't know what to get. Thanks

 

Those are excellent leafs you have already. You say they're brand new or just the shocks are new?. If it's slamming off the bumpstops then you have another issue going on. The azz end of an xj weighs nearly nothing so how is it too heavy? Post some pictures.

 

The leafs are pretty much brand new and the shocks are older from another jeep but still have a lot of pressure. There's a 150lb tool box and another 100lbs of gear steel roof rack with tire on top, steel bumper, steel gas tank skid plate (full wrap around tank) uni stiffeners steel, all around 1/8" to 3/16" thick steel... A lot of weight my old leafs worked great and they were like 6leaf pack these skyjackers are only 4

that is some extra weight there.. maybe bastard another leaf into the pack? Do they sag/negative arch? Do you have shackles?

 

no shackles and they sag a little I'm assuming due to the weight

 

it leafs are anywhere past flat (or close to) it will cause premature wear. Id start with trying to addd more leafs. The closer the lenghts of each leaf, the stiffer the ride, so you'll have to find that balance between height and comfort.. The leafs themselves will add height just due to their thickness..
