Might have to consider this one day...

I have a Ford 8.8, bought the swap kit already, and have the axle prepped. Although now I'm on the fence if I should swap it or not. After buying gears, bearings, truetrac, and autolocker for the front.. I feel like I'm better off investing in something more beefy.

I was thinking about doing a ford 9" rear and JK 44 front (same lug pattern and width). Although I recently learned that the wall thickness is no more than .188" on the ford 9" (about half of the dana 35). I don't' want to do 1/2-3/4 ton and deal with the same front u-joints in a dana 44 as my 30. Although then I'm loosing a lot of clearance with the d60. I keep going in circles

Shock mounts welded in. First time I actually really welded up anything on a vehicle. I don't think it came out too bad for having no room under there.

Ordered up a transmission mount. My old one wasn't really in bad shape, but worse than I would have thought for being less than two years old. I ended up getting a minor lift from it as it didn't sag under the weight of the transmission.

Something I found on Ebay. It's well put together and has a nice zinc plating to it.

I wouldn't doubt that the bullet proof drivetrain always comes to mind...but you've been chugging that Dana 35 for a while and it has lasted even with 33s...
The 8.8 would definitely would be an upgrade worth having (gears/or lsd/strength)...
A built Dana 30 can go a long way....hell even stock is still holds on...
Unless you plan to make it into a trail rig...

Bought some DIY bumpers on impluse.. I also started pulling apart the S-10 steering box today. I'm planning on tapping it for hydro assist.

I got them both from G&G Custom Metal Fab. He throws in the front chassis bumper mount brackets with the front kit. I also got the rear unibody tie-ins with mine. I picked mine up locally from him, so I'm not sure if the rear unibody tie in was a bonus. He was a good guy, used to be a sheet metal worker but kept getting laid off. Now he's almost doing these bumpers full time now right out of his garage. Most of the bends he pre-bent so assembly is even easier than the JCR kit, while at a cheaper price.

Went out for a random road trip on the day after the 4th. I'm thinking next up on the list is to upgrade my battery cables and grounds for when I get a winch.
