Replaced the tranny mount and crossmember today. Wasn't expecting it to be so easy to be honest. Once the tranny was secure all the bolts came off and went right back on within an hour. It's a good thing I was changing the mount, found the two bolts that hold the mount to the tranny were both extremely loose. You can see in the pictures that the old mount was pretty worn. The Rusty's crossmember went in like a charm and am very pleased with it. Took it down the road and it's riding a lot better now, no more clunking when shifting between Park, Reverse, or Drive anymore.

Cleaned the Jeep up nice like so it won't look like a "warrant wagon" (I kid) for a Show and Shine fundraiser by the local club. The location was on the base of the local Air Force Museum, it was awesome. There were over 50 Jeeps and a Viper that showed up.

2 layers of spray wax, refresh black paint and tires shine.





Cool Glider that carried Jeeps into war. Only a dozen left of the 14,000 made. Most were sold after the War and stripped for their high quality wood for homes in PA.





XJs can hang too.

Changed the front pinion seal that's been leaking since I picked up the axle. It was surprisingly a very easy job. Took about an hour and the hardest part was prying the old seal out. Next on the list is a tune-up. Oil, oil filter, oil filter adapter o-rings, spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor. Looking forward to it.

Just read this entire thread. Have to say your '88 is probably the cleanest of that year I've ever seen. Very well done. My build thread will be starting very soon. Hope my '89 turns out anywhere near this nice.

Thanks! Post up a build thread and I'll keep an eye on it.

Small update:

Did a small tune up and fixed a few leaks. Changed the oil, oil filter, oil filter adapter o-rings, spark plug wires, dist. cap & rotor, and the front pinion seal. I have new spark plugs waiting to go in but even my walmart spark plug sockets weren't deep enough for some reason. But I did change them within 30,000 miles so i'll get to them eventually. Jeep runs great now.

Buddy of mine sent me a picture today, guess you can say the Jeep will be under the knife soon. 2x6 3/16" pieces, I owe him a whole $50 for two 6' pieces. Just have to work around my schedule to meet up with him to get them cut and in our Jeeps.

Yup to both sliders and spacers. Just some generic Ebay Hub-centric spacers 1.25". I've had them since I lifted the Jeep and no issues.

Only took me a month but finally installed the Aussie Locker in the 8.25. It literally took just two hours from start to finish. I filled it with 75w90 and took it for a drive. I am so surprised at how well and quiet this locker behaves. It's obvious Aussie took a lot of time to research and make an excellent product. With the window and radio off I can hear the faint clicking of the locker around tight turns. Obviously the locker is louder the faster and tighter the turn but even with the windows up it's barely noticeable. It doesn't drive much different at all but feels amazing knowing the traction I have.



So much room....





....for traction!!!
