Default Crack in casing of fuel injector

I have a 1999 jeep xj 4x4 and just noticed 3 of my injectors have cracks in the outer plastic casing, am i ok to drive with these? Is the casing just cosmetic or could the crack affect the internals of the injector?

Pics would really help, if it leaks fuel all over the exhaust it's gonna be a goner.

I will try and get a good picture, bassically its a tiny crack in the plastic on the side of the injector, not near the bottom where the fuel actually comes out but in the side

Great job getting clear pics!

I don't think it's the end of the world, but we ARE talking about possibly spraying fuel all over a hot exhaust if one of the gives out.

Are you sure you want to chance that?

I know, that's my biggest fear, the thing is they don't look like new cracks, even though I know the inside of the injector is metal I just don't know what exactly is cracked, I can have replacements on Wednesday

I did a 4 hole injector upgrade, with a new fuel rail, on my '00 about a year ago. Noticed that when I pulled out the fuel rail with the injectors that one of mine was cracked like that. Pretty sure I did not do it during the removal. Jeep ran fine. I just did the upgrade by justifying it as maintenance. They had 150K on them and needed to go. So I would not worry to much. And if you have three and are going to replace them might as well do all six and upgrade to 4 hole ones.

Mine runs perfect, starts right up, idles good, good acceleration, no gas mileage loss, I don't smell gas when I'm on top of the injectors when it's running or not, I just need to time to hit the junk yard to find a set and that isn't until this weekend, mine are at 260k so it make sense with how hot it gets under there that the plastic would dry out and crack but isn't the inside of the injector metal?

Those type of injectors crack all the time. No fuel will escape as the plastic is just covering a solid metal tube which is the actual injector body. The only problem that could come up is that heat from the engine will cause what they call "heat soak" and you may get misfire codes pop up

I would trust his judgment on this matter.

That's what I figured, I've had some heat soak rough idle after parking then starting right up but no codes, I'll hit the junkyard this weekend and do an upgrade to the 4 hole injectors, thanks for the help
