MD_XJ_MD (Mark D) came over yesterday to work on his Jeep some. Water pump bearing was shot and the pulley was wobbling, so we replaced that. Thought it was leaking, so we took it out and resealed it, reinstalled to find it still leaking. Turns out the mud and rust that came off the metal inlet tube was stopping a leak from happening. Couldn't find one locally, so he had to drive home leaking coolant.
Just before he left, he started it up and noticed a brown puddle under the jeep. Found his small power steering leak suddenly became a massive leak from the return line. Also couldn't find one locally. So no power steering on his 1 hour drive home.
Attempted to install the ZJ tie rod that Tim(clown) gave to Mark (96xjclassic) who gave it to me in a trade. The fixed end of the tie rod had the thread completely smashed in. Looks like someone hit it with a hammer. No problem, we'll just stick the stock parts back on: wrong. The tie rod ends were so corroded and rusted that the nuts wouldnt go on them. Tried everything. Junkyards were closed at this point and he spent over $100 to get new stock stuff just to put it back together.
Long day and didn't accomplish much at all.

I just fixed a power steering weekend yesterday. Thought it wad the pitman arm seal. Turned out the pressure hose was leaking at the bottom side at the crimp going to the steering box. Saw it as I was gonna change the pitman arm seal. Fingers crossed I don't see any leaks when I get back to my jeep in an hour.
But man does the jeep drive different with a fully pressurized system again.

Finally took some pictures of the headliner all finished up. Now I just need to find some new donor sun visors at the JY.
