Default My jeep is trying to kill me.

Last night I parked my jeep, everything running perfectly fine. I came back 10 min later, started it up and it was reving 3000! and wouldn't stop. It was super loud, and I thought it was going to explode. I shut it off, and tried it again, and it went to normal idle around 1000. I drove it around, got back in a couple hours later, it started up fine, until I was leaving my girlfriend's house, and it was doing it again. It was just idling so high, and I tried to put it into drive to see if it would go down, and it only went to about 1500, which was almost too much to stop the jeep with the brakes! I thought I was goint to go flying off the road.

Normally when I start my jeep it will go up to 2000 or 3000 once it starts, but then it goes right back down to 1000 rpm.

What could be causing this problem?? intake flap sticking or something?? tps?

this is my daily driver, and I don't want it to die or kill me either.

My guess would be IAC. It's attached to you throttle body. I'd first take it off and clean it but be very careful and also clean the valve area where it mounts with some carb clean. Replace and see how that works.

This might sound stupid but make sure that your floor mat isn't stuck up underneath the gas pedal actually mashing the gas.

If that is out of the question....I would take the TPS and IAC module off. (both are located on the Throttle Body) and clean them really well and clean the connections and re install them.

If it gets stuck like that again and you cant stop it with the brakes you can just flip it into neutral....

Well all day yesterday which consisted of about 10 starts going different places, it never idled high...?
I don't know what it is, but I'll probably adjust tps to spec and then clean IAC as you guys have mentioned.
