Default Radiator replacement time

And i'm not looking forward to messing with the trans lines.

Would now be a good time to replace the radiator and not worry about trying to keep the lines intact, and just go to an actual trans cooler and not run anything from the trans to the radiator?

Truck in question is a 2000 with 192k miles on it.

An aftermarket trans cooler is always a good idea, as long as you get a quality unit.

You will still need to mess with the trans cooling lines...the trans cooler goes in-line with the radiator. Are the lines rusted out?? Otherwise, just re-use them as-is.

You can bypass the radiator.

Some folks don't like passing trans fluid thru the same thing a bunch of coolant also passes thru.

That, and who wants to heat their trans fluid with the heat from the coolant?

I know when it's time to change out my rad I will be bypassing the rad-trans cooler and will be installing an after market cooler.

Was probably just going to grab one of the B&M kits from Summit.

I'd rather just not run it through the radiator.

This, this, and this.

Excellent! Any suggestions on particular model? Or just use the most common B&M i see people using on the forums?

Excellent.

I just wanted to make sure i wasn't missing something obvious. I can't really afford to mess this truck up, it's the wife's DD.

Wish i had the time to deal with an electric fan conversion while i was at it, but that'll have to wait til Spring i think.
