88 cherokee trans problem

Hey guys I'm having an issue with my auto Trans it works and shifts fine but when I climb a long grade under a heavy load like today it was a 3 mile climb on the hiway after a bit of climbing the Trans stops working like its in neutral? After I let it sit for about 15 mins it was working again and drove 100 miles after. This has happened 1 time before? Has anyone had this happen to them or have any suggestions

How's the fluid level and condition?

Fluid is to the proper level and looks clean

How many miles on the transmission? Has it had reasonable maintenance/fluid changes?

I don't like the sound of that symptom. You might have a tired transmission.....
