^ i think its because a wider tire puts more of a strain on the drivetrain (hub, ball joints, etc)...but thats just a guess.

my buddy had a MJ on 1 ton axles, on 39.5" pit bull rockers...plenty of power to the wheels. I do agree a bit though, for a street driven vehicle you dont want to go too deep on the gearing as you will be turning very high rpms on the highway. im very happy with 4.56's and 33's. But eventually i will get 35's...ive got inch-itus haha

jeep life,
no offense, but for someone that doesn't know what they are talking about, you sure have attitude.
Add all the power you want, and when you start overheating, twisting axles and driveshafts and burning up transmissions... add deep gearing to make your rig work right.

I'm going to guess you've never had a vehicle with big power, 'cause if you did you'd understand that grearing is critical even then.

Most of us run taller tires because they offer a larger foot print in off road conditions, and because they give us more ground clearance. In short, they offer more traction when the going gets tough. These taller tires are all offered in wider sized, very few narrow ones and those are 10.5" wide.

yeah i agree with you, gearing is critical, add all the horspepower you want its being wasted without the right gearing.

doesnt change the fact there is a RIGHT way and a WRONG way to do things, whether you want to admit that or not is another story

If you wanna run that mouth of yours go to Pirate.

Keep this thread on topic and quit with the BS I'm right because it'd the way I am and learn from these guys. That should be why you're posting not just to "egg" someone...

Why is it that drag car regear their rear ends when running so much power? Tell me that since you do know what you're talking about.

You're carzy. .
I have a couple friends like that... nice guys once you really know them... but man getting past that "in your face" deal can be hard for a lot of folks.
Something to consider... in person you can read facial expressions and tone... on the iternet you cannot, and you can come across very poorly, and risk being banned from sites that may be of use to you.

That's awesome, but it does go against sound engineering. Lots of power and long gearing adds a lot of strain to the entire drive train. Hopefully his rig lasts a long time.
My rig is my daily driver, I run 4.56's and 33's... on the road it's perfect, but to keep tire speed down and allow the truck to run with minimal strain I went to a 4:1 t-case gear set.

Good luck.

I am going to tell you only once. I read another post where you are just the type to egg things on just for fun and that's fine. How ever when a CF Staff member asks or makes a request drop the attitude. Next time you're gone no questions asked. If you don't like the fact we do not tolerate cussing at all to bad, this is not your site so deal with it.

Man you're a hospitable character. Started your own thread and when people ask you for help you tell them they're wrong. Good job on that one...
