Hmm, never heard that before.. then again I've never done a service to it knowing I have no intentions to keep it. Probably for the best that it's worn out or else I'd of broke it by now..

Ugh.. Where did you hear that there were D35's in ZJ's with alluminum housing.. The D44's that were used in the V8 ZJ's had aluminum housing which is why there called D44a.. but there was never a alluminum housing TurD35...

The TurD35 is the most useless boat anchor of a axle to ever be produced by amc/chrysler. Why the hell a Jeep ever saw that POS axle I will never know.. The Super35 kit's are a way to polish the TurD but none the less still Junk

 

Okay, thanks for the info. If cherokees were hard to find, then I prolly would just look for the best deal on a xj that I could find, regardless of the rear end....but since theres so many in my price range, I will just hold out untill I find the exact one that I'm looking for.... Maybe I will lower my standards, if I'm still shopping for one, two weeks from now, because d35 rear end is all I can find, but I'm going to look at a couple this week with no abs, so I'm crossing my fingers that they have a 8.25, and look as good in person, as they do from the internet.

Umm my buddy's has a D35 aluminum housing on his full time 4wd 5.2 ZJ. He is on the forum and talks about it in his sig lol

I completely agree about the d35 being **** in hardcore offroad environments, but why do you say the super 35 is junk? It's axle shafts are comparable in size to D44 and some D60s (1.31in diameter). The shafts in the Super 35 kit are 35% stronger than stock D35 AND are slightly stronger than D44 shafts.

 

Yeah sorry bout that.. the Super35 is a great upgrade for the TurD and is a good option to doing a axle swap.. When I said at the end of that sentence "none the less still junk" I was reffering to the stock D35, not one that has been upgraded with a Super35 Kit. But I can see how from what I said you would not have come to that conclusion.. My bad..

FALLEN is right about the Super35 Kit upgrade and always something to think about when needing to upgrade your TurD35

I've had no problems with my super 35 and I've put it through hell on the road and off. it Is an expensive upgrade when compared to an axle swap tho.

 

Agreed, for the cost of doing a Super35 no matter what locker you choose you can pretty much do a axle swap upgrade for the same cost or less depending on the swaped axle

 

The d35 really isn't all that bad I wheel my jeep pretty hard at times with a completely stack d35 and have never had a problem with it

 

The D35 in a stock setup is fine. Mine With trac Lok took me places I didn't think possible. However, if you want to put anything larger than 33in tires and a locker on, the 35 isn't the best option.

That would mean that every XJ built that had ABS had Trac-Lock... which they most certainly did not.
Durable = Reliable = Better. I'm not a D35 basher by any means but the 8.25 being more durable directly translates to it being stronger and therefore more capable...
