Default Smoke coming out of dash?!?

So I own a 1990 Cherokee Pioneer and recently ive noticed a smoke coming out from my dash where my stereo should be.( I have no stereo). It smells like kinda like it could be an exhaust leak but its not like overbearing but it needs to stop.If anyone knew what it could be I would love the help.Thanks.

so do you have an exhaust leak? is there oil getting somewhere it souldnt be, burning off and making its way thru vents? is it def motor oil? have you pulled anything apart or in any way physically inspected your rig?

I have but not that in depth. Now that you mention it. It very well could be oil burning off from somewhere it shouldnt. Ill need to look further into it, i was just wondering if this is a frequent problem.

I highly recommend carrying a fire extinguisher with you until you get to the bottom of this.

would definitely pull the a/c control and look at the plugs in the back. mine did the same thing and it was the wires. don't cut the plugs tho theyre hard to find.

X2 on the fire extinguisher. (the fire truck always shows up tooo late.) You may also want to make sure you can get one batt. term off in a hurry. In my 90 I can sort or reach some of that stuff in the dash with the radio out....

Ill definitely keep and extinguisher with me, also Ill check on that AC controls. I know its not an exhaust leak. And Im pretty positive its not a freon leak.Im pretty inclined on AC's,However, Im also no expert. I've searched for oil leaks that may be burning off and found nothing. My assumption as of right now would be the "wire fire". Although I have checked into that it could be from a place unseen like mentioned before the AC control Module wires. I will look into that and let you know how it turns out.

You may look at your heater core. I had what appeared to be smoke coming from my vents, very faint, and smelled like coolant though. Had to replace the heater core. Just a thought....

Poke your noggin under the passenger side dash. Move the heater controls until the big flapper door opens up and look at the blower motor. I had a mouse put carpet padding pieces in the blower motor. Then those pieces came loose and got stuck to the blower resistor and burned. Easy to check.

Good one. I had the same thing happen in my Jag. Was paper confetti via mouse. Might have turned into a flame thrower if I hadn't caught it.

so Ive checked just about everything and still no solution. However I havnt seen anything coming out of the dash in some time now. Maybe is because of the cold, I dont know. This one is a puzzle.
