Yeah those kits are rediculous.. Maybe if you could get just the piping and such and put together yur own setup it would lower the price by say.. $1,500!

This is a whole lot easier said than done. The computer needs to know when boost pressure is arriving in the cylinders, so it can change the injector pulse duration to compensate for the added air- or you're gonna melt something! The timing also needs to delay according to volume of air entering the cylinders to prevent detonation. (better know someone who understands your ECM, and knows how to re-write chips)

It's more than just installing a raising rate fuel pressure regulator and bigger pump/injectors. The MAP sensor has to be able to tell the computer when boost is arriving. Then you're gonna have to get one way valves for ALL of your vacuum lines (so boost pressure doesn't enter your HVAC, brake booster, etc)

Does it sound like a waste of time yet?.....small block it. Easier, cheaper; and probably a bigger grin factor

isnt that the purpose of the after market chip. people install them and want instant hp without doing the other things to get the full potential. so if you get the injectors and ratio right and get you chip which is supposed to be able to send the correct signals to the comp. he should be all right. imn not saying its as easy as pie, but none the less its a computer man im sure if you look hard enough you can get someone to program yours properly.

Check these out, just a couple examples of a cheap base stroker kit

I am a jeep tech, and in the middle of my stroker build, I am doing a 4.6, with a the 505 stage 2 cam, all the teflon bearings( TRYING THEM OUT,) Eagle rods, kieth black pistons, And I am debating on a charger myself, I am looking more towards the hesco set up, only because i have alot of jeep buddies from back in my yj days, and a cpl of them have a cpl laying around their shops. Although this is going in my daily driver ZJ I am building a 92 pony 302 block for my XJ. So The thought of the winding up charger under the hood just is too damn tempting, But the sound of a built pony coming out of my XJ is gonna be NAAAAAAAAASSSSTEEEEEEEEEEEEE sounding. No emmissions needed in jan. CANT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!

And lose your I6 4.0, wonderful little motors... chevy motors belong in chevy's - just build one of those too....

It would up the resale value, wouldn't it?

I don't know how I get by without a supercharger.

If I had a dime for every time I wished I had a supercharger while in route to the grocery store.....
