I am new to the group and to the forum. I recently decided I am going to make my 96 xj into an off-road machine and well it's still a little far from being trail ready. I replaced my tie rod and ends and my steering dampner as well as doing an oil change and a radiator flush. Next thing I know my oil pressure sensor is running high and maxing out when on the freeway as well as my engine making a very worrying whine. I'm totally lost as to what might be the problem as I've never expienced this as a car owner. Does anyone have any ideas or similar experiences?

Just throwing it out there and i really highly doubt it could be this but your oil pump screen could be plugged and it would be the cause of high oil pressure.

i have the same problem with the high oil pressure but instead of a whine its a tick so if yours is more of a tick it might be the lifters or push rods.
