Battery Cable Fix

Cheap$200Jeep

Description:
The Previous Owner was nice enough to install an Optima Battery and put new cable ends on before giving up and selling the Jeep to me but I wasn’t happy with the quality of work this guy did… As you can see, he used the temporary repair type ends and didn’t pay much attention to grooming the cable ends.
I bought a set of good cable ends from Napa, Cut the cables back until I didn’t find corrosion (4” on one of them) and then put it back together.
Funny thing that I was not expecting, The new ends trimmed 2-6 seconds off the time it takes to lower/raise my windows and cured all my locks except one of taking three or four attempts to lock/unlock. The one remaining has a linkage problem to be fixed latter.

You just cut your old cable back until you do not find any corosion in the cable, strip off 1" of insulation, tighten the bolt and snap the little black box around the connector.

Napa's Part Number = 728216. Cost = $24.95 Ea.

They come with red and black wire like the one on the left side of this photo. I used red and black electrical tape to make all the wires coming out the same color in an effort to make them Idiot proof if I need a jump start. I also wraped the splice with tape to help keep moisture out even more than the box does. Was thinking of filling the box with silicon caulk...
