Skid Plate & Front recovery points

Cheap$200Jeep

Description:
I got the Front Skid Plate, 4 Tow hooks, Recovery Point/Bumper Brackets at the bone-yard for $40. I spent about an hour to get the parts cleaned off with a grinder and wire cup to clean them off, inspect for cracks and be ready for paint.

I wiped them all down with grease/wax remover, Pained them with RustOleum Epoxy Appliance Spray paint that has a rust converter/inhibitor, baked them in the kitchen oven @ 100 degrees so thew would be cured by the time I had the bumper off... (Mental note, watch the yard sales for a cheap oven to put in the garage so the girlfriend does not react like an angry Boble-head the next time I pull this stunt!)

Also painted the bumper, corner caps and grill while I was at it. What a mistake! Makes the rest of the rig stand out...

Plan to use the extra hooks in the back when I figure out how I want to attach them to the Class 3 Receiver. For now I just have a hook welded to a removable ball mount.

All and all about 2/3 of a day spent "Playing in the Man Cave".

Recovery points - About 30 min of wire brushing the parts and an inspection for cracks and they're ready to paint.

Recovery Points - Big differnace in brackets! After taking the bumper off, I don't know if I would feel comfortable mounting expensive lights with the original brackets much less try to use it for pulling someone out...

The fate of the back recovery points is still undetermined. I hope to score a rear tire mount from the Bone-Yards. If I can't the bumper's gona go. For now this will have to do because it's starting to snow around here and I don't want to be out there welding hooks or D-Rings to the hitch.

The factory style mounts have two additional holes on each side that do not have existing holes on the frame. I still need to see if they are needed or even possible to do on mine...
