Transmission swap

Ok. I have a 'Parts' 2000 Jeep Cherokee I-6 / 4.0 L with automatic transmission.
I know of someone selling a 2003 Grand Cherokee with I-6 / 4.0 L with a bad automatic transmission.
The only difference between them (off the top of my head) is the 2003 GC has Selec-Trac transfer case.
Can I make the swap to get the 2003 GC on the road?

Can you elaborate why it wouldn't work? I mean i thought the 4.0 was gone by 03 but if it has the 4.0 I6 wouldn't the tranny be the same bolt up? I'm really not sure because i mess with ZJ's but i would like to know just in case i run into any good deals or something.
