I have an aftermarket Kenwood CD player in my 1990 XJ, but I’d love to also be able to play my cassette tapes in the car. Is there a way that I can install a tape deck on the dash and run it through the CD player?

Let's assume for the moment that you're not trolling.

Does your Kenwood have an aux in? Are you sure? Did you check the manual?
Do you have a tape deck, or are you looking for one?

the kenwood has a CD player, am/fm, and an aux in. My idea was to buy a second stereo with a tape deck, mount it on the dash, and wire it in

Our 01 still has a tape deck. Lol . we got the adapter cassette with the auxiliary input cable. I was listening to some tapes for like the first year of ownership. But they were all so old they all eventually broke.
