Default Headlight h4 conversion / fast blinker

I did a headlight conversion on my '00 XJ this evening and after breaking both my brittle headlight surrounds trying to put them back on realized I my blinkers were going a mile a minute. I also noticed one fog light is now out. Now I don't know if it's the h4 conversion or the fog lamp being out that's causing the speedy blink. Would a fog light cause the fast blinking? Shoulda been a 15 minute job now it's a **** show.

You have separate problems here more than likely. The fogs should have no effect on the blinkers and the same goes for the headlights. Likely one of your blinkers happened to burn out and the dogs been burnt out for a bit and you never noticed.

That's my guess, thanks!

If your blinker bulbs all check out okay, check your grounds. You are drawing more current through those H4s, and might have a ground that was... okay with the lower current draw, but just isn't cutting it now.

I hope you upgraded your headlight harness!

I actually noticed a bit of corrosion on the harness plug and used a bit of dialectic grease. It might be a dodgy connection in the harness. The wiring upgrade is going to have wait for warmer days.
