Default Gauge Clusters.. aftermarket options?

I have had my 2001 XJ for about 5 years now, just recently my gauge cluster stopped working. After pulling out the old cluster I've determined that I will need a new cluster all together. I was looking up replacement gauge clusters and ran into this:

https://www.intellitronix.com/produc...e-panel-dp6015

Does anyone have experience with this company? It looks like they just released this cluster (even though they have had the TJ for a few years). Just throwing around my options since I have to replace the cluster anyways. Or does anyone know of any other brands out there that have something for the XJ?

Weird that it doesn't interface with the CAN system and uses separate sensors instead

From what I gathered after calling the manufacturer, you have to use an interface with them to read with the CAN system and run dual senders.

I don't know, for that kind of money, I think I'd try to work out a solution with Autometer, or similar gauges. I'm not a fan of digital gauges personally; too much thinking... I'd rather take a quick look at a needle and know whether it's good or bad. In racing, it's common to rotate the gauges so that the needle points straight up during "normal" conditions. With a quick glance, you can see if something is amiss simply by it not being pointed straight up. I have one of the high end Autometer trans temp gauges where the clock would mount and if I want to know the exact temperature, it's just as accurate, +/- a degree at a quick glance, to the degree if you really want to know.

To answer your question though, Intellitronix has been around for a while and the product is very likely good quality. Summit has been carrying them for as long as I can remember. I'm completely lost why they can't just plug into the OBD port and pull the data from your '01. It's fairly trivial with aftermarket head units or a Raspberry Pi and a screen. Sucks that your cluster is toast. I wouldn't want to replace the cluster as much as augment it.

I'm curious, did you end up getting something new and how was the install? Thinking about doing something similar with mine!
