Will this work? Jeep cables has a double din bezel https://www.jeepcables.com/shop/xj-double-din-install-kit
And some radios like a Sony ax5000 have a double din face, but single din in the back
This seems like it should work fairly easily (maybe a bracket and some cable adapters) and without cutting the AC ducts. What am I missing? I'm pretty ignorant on car audio stuff, and this seems too easy.
I have that kit in my Jeep with a Pioneer head unit. The bracket it comes with doesn't use the factory mounting holes (well one) but it does mount pretty high on the head unit itself so it might work. You really don't have to trim much of the AC duct for a double din and I didn't notice a difference in air flow.
Thanks I was working on getting her all put back together today after installing some sound deadener. Overall it looks pretty factory, but where the bezel meets the top of the head unit could have been designed a little better (like the angle is weird) I didn't get any pics of the install but if you haven't seen this video it might be helpful.
Yeah that video was super helpful, I just watched the whole thing. Like I said I'm ignorant when it comes to car audio stuff, nut it seems pretty straight forward. That video helped a lot, too. Thanks!
I watched it a few times before I did mine. I didn't have to trim anything on the top like that guy did even though it was the same head unit. Best Buy has the kit on sale for 45 bucks right now. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/metra-d...8aAht2EALw_wcB
