Default Brighter dash lights

Any brighter "plug and play" bulbs available for the instrument panel on my '96?

Earl I don't quite know the difference between the 96 and 97-up models, but my stock 99 dash lights are quite bright and I tend to dim them at night because it helps my night vision.

I have heard that installing LED lights can brighten up your Dash lights, but I have also heard you can not dim them.

Looks like a lot of options at e-bay for 84-96 xj's.

Cherokee4Lif3,
Yep. Don't know about all LED's but some do say you lose the dimming option.

Fred,
part #'s are the same. Maybe the age of my bulbs is the issue.

freegdr,
I found a bulb and socket from when I did the instrument panel swap. Looks like the ones on that link. No #'s on the bulb but the socket has "Wagner 3H" on it. Must be a trick to getting the bulb out cause one of the wires stayed in the socket.

I put LEDs. I love them. Here's a pic. I'll look up the details for you. They were cheap and easy.

Man that is a great improvement. I think that will be next on priority list.

This the link with a pic of the bulb size and such. I used the old housing form the old bulbs. Just popped the new ones in the old socket and twisted it back in. Worked great. I already had my dash torn up because of the ignition issues and such. So why not? I could barely see the lights at night.

And one of these sizes is the right one for the ac controls. I ordered the 3mm ones first. They were too small. So either the 4 or 5mm should fit. You only need 2 of these.

I already had my dash tore up and the old bulbs were crap. Highly recommended and it was super cheap.
