Audio system upgrade for XJ...confused
i have a 2000 xj that the P.O. installed aftermarket head unit, door speakers and 6x9’s in the rear “sound bar”. I need a new head unit and want to upgrade the speakers while I’m at it. I don’t want to spend more than $350-400 total and I don’t know anything about car audio, so I’m not sure which route to go.
Would i I be better served to do two sets of component systems like this
or would it it be better to do two sets of these
with this amp
thanks for any help!

I'll be installing that exact same amp here shortly.
I'll be running an Alpine CDE-143BT head unit, and Infinity REF-6522EX speakers front and rear. So, in other words the exact same setup you have spec'd.
Nothing out of this world, but nothing that's super cheap crap as well.
I was able to get the amp and speakers off eBay new for cheaper than Amazon (20% off code the other day), and managed to find the head unit new in box for $50 locally on Craigslist.
Should be pretty easy to install overall.

Hey, so the amp does fit under the rear seat (and fronts) per a quick fit test.
The outputs/inputs are on the longer side, which creates a little more of an issue with routing. I'll be running 90° RCA adapters to help.
Speakers arrived yesterday.
I've got a few other things to wrap up (like a hidden winch mount) before I'll be able to get to installing this stuff.
