Hey all!
I've decided to use some of my tax return to improve the sound in my Jeep. As usual, I feel like I've gotten in over my head. Last summer, I ordered some Kenwood stuff from Crutchfield (KDC-BT555U and 4 KFC-1394PS) to replace the factory stuff, and that went in pretty well. But now I'm looking at adding a bit more bass.
I've kind of settled on the Subthump "Cargo Stealth Enclosure", as it's a very clean look. Certainly much nicer looking than the XJ-Pod. But what I'm getting lost on is the huge number of subwoofers and amps out there. I was thinking I'd just stick with Kenwood stuff, in case of compatibility issues, but the Crutchfield CSR said there should be nothing like that. She suggested Rockford Fosgate (which I've never even heard of). Then she launched into a discussion on box size and stuffing, ohms, DVC and SVC.
It was over my head.
So have any of you used the Stealth Enclosure or the XJ-Pod with any success? What combination of amp/sub did you use?

I have a Boss Diablo 10" stealth sub with a subthump box and a Lanzar 800 dual amp it give the Jeep a nice vibe and kick while not being obnoxious to the people outside. (sorry for the old phone quality) I'm very happy with the sound and for the price you can't beat it.

Listen to her. Rockford Fosgate is one of the best in audio equipment around. Theyre a little pricey but look into there T series (T1 specifically). Theyre amazing, my buddy has one 10" T0 that would out pound the 2 kicker 12s I used to have.
But if you want the absolute best sound, and don't actually need the space saving design. I would recommend getting a regular box. A lot of how a sub performs is dependent on the location, and direction pointing when its playing. Coming from a guy that KNOWS sound, and more specifically sound in an XJ. (look up hazelton sound) XJ's sound best facing the hatch, with port on the back, pretty close to the hatch.

What is your budget?? What kind of music are you looking for? What kind of sound quality/volume are you looking for?
The Alpine Type-R 10" is known for its value, power rating, and sound quality. I have 920w RMS going to a single 10" Type-R, and it has zero distortion and flexes the roof and trunk if I turn it up.
Sundown Audio SA-10 is also a top tier subwoofer, as well as the RE XXX 10"
Image Dynamics has the best 10" sub for sound quality, without a doubt, and sounds GREAT on even 400w RMS
I would suggest a DVC 4-ohm subwoofer, wired to the amplifier to cut it down to 2-ohms. I would go with another Type-R, or if I was upgrading I would go for the SA-10

Ideally I want to keep it around $300-400. I listen to a variety of stuff; alt rock, dubstep, trance, heck...I have some bluegrass on the iPhone as well. I do turn it up from time to time, but not so bad that you can hear me coming 5 minutes before I'm there. I'm not expecting concert hall sound in the Jeep, but I would love to get more "oomph" to the low end.
I'm afraid all the rest of your post is lost on me. LOL I have learned what SVC and DVC stands for, but I have no clue what it means.
