Default What is this comanche worth?

The listing states the following. I am wanting to buy it. They are asking $7000. No rust excellent condition.

1989 Jeep Comanche Pioneer 4X4. 4.0 inline 6 cylinder engine, 5 speed manual transmission, with air conditioning. Grey cloth interior, bench seat

I bought this truck last summer from a man who had bought it new, so for all practical purposes it's a one-owner truck. The odometer just turned 100,000 miles. The previous owner had just replaced the air conditioning compressor right before I bought the truck.

This Jeep did have a topper on it it's entire life, as well as a bed liner and the truck was always garaged. I removed the topper (old plastic windows gave very poor visibility) as well as the hard plastic bedliner, but kept the bedliner rail caps, as you can see in the photo. Since I've owned it I have replaced a front hub, new premium shock absorbers, new tires and had the head professionally redone, i.e., valves redone with new stem seals and ports were gasket-matched. During reassembly I also installed new spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, upper and lower radiator hoses, and a new thermostat. The truck runs and drives like new. Since the vehicle is so nice it is in storage for the winter season. This is going to make someone a sweet little Jeep!

I'd suggest that the truck is worth what you're will to pay. Your question is very subjective. Book value is very low, loan value possibly a little more. I'm not suggesting you need a loan. These numbers are simply documented values for reference sake.
They could be bargaining chips.

Keep in mind that typically, but not always, list price is negotiable. I'd guess the seller paid less and is only trying to re-coop as much of his investment as possible.

You could wait to find a cheaper truck, and that's what you'd have. Then invest more money, and time, to have a ride close to the condition of the Jeep in question. Or pony up a little more initially than what some suggest is too much. Either way, you end up at the same place. By the way, the first option will also cost you more elbow grease as well.

The '91-'92 year models are considered by many to be more desirable due in part to the aftermarket 4.0 support, again subjective. I have two '89 Renix powered 4.0s that I'm quite happy with.

IMHO I'd negotiate the best price you can feel comfortable with paying and enjoy an incredible nice stock Comanche MJ.

Yes it is a 4x4. I think it is high priced also. I think $5000 max is what id be interested in spending. I doubt they will go for it though. They are open to trades so i told him what i got. Waiting to here back. Id be paying cash or cash plus trade. I dont care for loans myself. Lol. Thanks for your opinions i will let everyone know if i get this. Ive wanted a comanche to go with my Cherokee every since i got my first jeep!

Well I gave the guy a call and asked what his bottom dollar was. He said $7000 is the minimum. He also said the closer to spring it get the more apt he will be to keep it. After talking to him it sounds like he developed a huge attachment to this little truck. He said even if I offered the full amount he would still have to sleep on it. Oh well maybe I will just get another cherokee and chop the top. Lol

I have my cousin call and lowball then haggle for a bit, the night before I offer, then the next morning I call and offer my amount.
Glad I'm not the only one who does this. =P

I would have him take off the plastic bed liner to prove its rust free for that price. The plastic bed liners are known for holding water and making truck beds rust out.

Yeah i dont think he had it in it. I think he just cut off the bed rail covers and re installed them so he could remove the rest of the liner.

Looks like im getting a WJ. Clean lifted $2000.

I hate when i come across people like that about these MJ's. There's the type that want Wayy too much because its an MJ and then there's the people who stake how "rare" these trucks are and how they are soo hard to find. They're not rare or hard to find at all. I could go state by state on CL and find these things all day long... running condition and rust factored there are still "nice" ones out there at Fair un-glorified prices.

My first MJ i bought was only $500, its been the best vehicle i've ever owned. Though now its dented up and has a few qwerks its still the best... Since then i've owned 4 others and never payed more than $600 for them.

So do as i do when I see these $5k + stock mj's roll around and click the back button and laugh at how disillusional they really are.
