I would steer clear from this if I was you, even behind the 4.0 they blow. I have seen way to many of my friends blow them, in person, not just hear say. Either save extra money and get a Atlas, 241OR, or do a 231/205.

You can do a 318 blows up video for YouTube. There is probably several of them already though.

i know that the 4.0 cant die, i got 2 in my shop waiting on future project jeeps and 1 of them is goin to be a 4.6 stroker. they are great motors, just wondering if the 318 is worth building to 300-400hp and throwing it in there

I wouldn't put any money in a 318. If you want cheap horsepower get a 350. Port and polish the heads and intake. Aluminum if you can afford it. Jet you Q jet .072 with the 44b metering rod and the some "DA" (.044") rods on the secondary side. Easy 300 plus horsepower if bottom end is up to par.

Not sure if the cooling system could handle that much heat though.

I was speaking of the 231/300 doubler, they go BOOM way to often.

Mostly, even the up-graded one, also a few split cases

well callin my engine builder tomorrow and gettin his take on the 318. dont really want to go with a 350 cuz ill probly still end up spending the same when you factor in gettin the motor. if i could i would use my dad's 426 he had built for his race car a while back (round 600-650hp) but cant use it.

350s are a dime a dozen. Just stick with your 4.0.
