Power assist liftgate installation
My folx bought a new '17 Cherokee Latitude from a local dealer. My father has a hard time lifting his arms above his chest and wants to get a power lift gate installed. The dealership said they can't do it(?!) and a local mechanic has been stalling with a ton of excuses. I found a kit in china for $500 but would be willing to spend the extra cash to get it right with oem parts. I thought of hitting the junkyards, but would like to get new components. My question is, has anyone on this forum attempted or completed this task and what would be the complete parts list and or part numbers need to complete this task? I appreciate all of your input, knowledge and help. Thanx!

In our area we have businesses that convert automobiles to handicap usable rigs. Do you have anything like that in your area? If so, they could certainly do what is needed.
That is a great suggestion, TCP64. I will pursue that lead tomorrow, Monday. Also, I spoke with my cousin whose worked for a major parts distributor for 30 yrs and he is investigating all the components and availability, I will post when he gets back to me.

They do make power liftgate conversion kits, I've heard of them before. I don't know if you'll be able to get the factory parts, but I think a company named Voxx makes an aftermarket solution.

No problem! This may be the best option, as the factory parts are hard to adapt to vehicles that didn't include that option.
