Default Door lock automatically without remote?

Hi,

I just bought a 2014 Cherokee with passive keyless entry. The doors are unlocked by just grabbing the door handle, but when I leave the car do the doors lock automatically as well (e.g. when the system senses that the remote key is no longer in range)?

I think it does but I don't hear the beep warnings or see the lights flashing, like when I lock the doors using the remote key.

No, you have to press the black button in the driver/passenger door handle or the smaller of the two rubber cover button on the bottom edge of the lift gate and the fob lock button.

I would recommend sourcing your owner's manual. You can locate one via http://www.jeep.com/en/owners/manuals/l. Thanks! - Kevin T, Social Connect Team

This is a great feature, and I can't tell you how many times the tiny lift-gate lock button been useful. I've surprised a couple KL owners who didn't know what this was, and a few non-Jeep owners have expressed jealousy about being able to lock the vehicle quickly after getting something out of the back.

You also don't need to unlock to do the lift gate. You hustle walk up, push the big button and it opens.
