Post 2019 Cherokee Trailhawk goes bang

2019 Cherokee Trailhawk with premium package, build date 08/2018. Driven home new from dealer on day of problem. I would like to know if anyone has experienced the following: We wanted to reposition the car without starting the engine. The car was in neutral and in the run position but the engine was off. As there was no power assist to the brakes, we knew firm pressure would need to be applied to the brake pedal in order to stop the car. The car rolled backwards a few feet (on a gentle slope) and when firm pressure was applied, no braking occurred. When a greater pressure was applied to the brake pedal, a loud bang came from under the car, and then the brakes took hold. It sounded like two metal surfaces shifting suddenly under stress. We have repeated the steps above, but each time the brakes will stop the car with firm pressure and no loud noises or bangs are heard. We have driven the car since for about 100km, and the brakes work fine. No pulling or noises coming from the brakes. Has this happened to anyone out there or does anyone have an idea what may have caused the bang? Local Jeep service just said we shouldn’t roll the car in neutral (Nothing in the manual says it’s a no-no), and if there’s nothing obviously broken they can’t/won’t help. Good start with Jeep service? 😞
