Tally ho mates
Hi I'm new here.I am the proud owner of a 1987 2dr Cherokee with a mere 113000.She is all still stock and ment to stay that way Yesterday I did some maintenance on her tune up,filters and a general cleaning.Took it out last night and all was well. This morning I took it out and it would not shift out of first,I swear I didn't touch the tranny.Guess I should have left well enough alone...

humm thats odd. are you sure you didnt touch the tranny at all?
if not then try draining the fluid and filling it back up and see what you get from there. also examine the oil that comes out to make sure water hasnt gotten into it, you know what to look for.
welcome to the forums.

well did you cover electrical components?
that may not have a direct relation to why your tranny wont leave first but you could have messed something else up while you were wasing your engine.

It was a very gentle washing,This has to be done often because this jeep aka Gidget is used on the beach so salt is an issue.I've never had a prob with this before.
