I was only expecting to use this Jeep as a stop-gap until I could find a new engine for my other car. Despite all of it's significant flaws (and they are significant. It's embarrassing to drop my kids off at school with the noises it makes right now) I have a real crush on this car and would like to bring it back to life.

The biggest problems right now are the engine noises and the mice in the heater. Any suggestions as to where to start? Thanks!
Walmart : ) For a $4 flush kit, generic coolant, oil, oil filter, copper plugs. Then see how it sounds and go from there. Check the local scrapyard for parts. There are always 10 or so cherokees sitting on blocks in the yard by my house.

Actually, it sounds FANTASTIC right now! I tightened up the bolts on the flex plate yesterday and that took care of almost all the noise problems. I am so relieved that I don't have something banging inside my crank case!

Now that the crazy noise is gone, I feel ok putting money into other repairs. Making a wish list, starting with replacing the shattered windows.

I'm really psyched that I had the patience and persistence to figure out and fix that problem on my own ( being a real novice mechanic) and I'm REALLY grateful for this forum. I used the collective knowledge here every step of the way, and there's no way I would have been able to figure that out on my own. That saved my ***, because I can't afford to pay someone to fix it.

Because of CF, I've got a vehicle that can safely get my family around this winter. I didn't have that last winter, so I don't say that lightly. Thanks, guys.
