Smile Selling my Subaru, bought a Cherokee

Hey guys and gals,

Just got back from a stealership... oops, I mean dealership. Put a deposit on a 1998 XJ 4.0L Classic with 125,000 miles.

I recently got a job that provides me with a company vehicle, so my 2010 Subaru Legacy sits in my garage deprecating bit by bit each day. I decided I'd rather take a small loss, sell it, buy a Cherokee, and put the rest of the money into my house (ugh).

Anyway, I'm brand new to the world of Jeeps. I did my research, and after looking at a bunch of Jeeps for sale around here, I've found that they're all pretty beat up and on the path to developing rust problems. The good Cherokees seem to be snapped up instantly, so I bit the bullet and paid a premium for this '98 I found tonight which came from southern Virginia and is impeccably rust-free.

I know I probably paid a grand or so "too much," but I don't know what KBB and NADA guides are thinking with the prices they recommend. In the Northern Virginia area, you'll get a rust bucket or a Jeep that needs some mechanical work.

Anyway, I'm pretty excited about getting my Cherokee; I've read all about the legendary reliability of the 4.0L I6, and I hope my new ride will provide many thousands of miles of service.

Some of the first mods I want to do:

-Undercoat underneath the truck to further prolong its rust-free state
-Pull out all the seats and carpet and apply paint-on bed liner of some kind to prevent rust inside (I'm really paranoid about rust!)
-Tint rear windows
-Fog lights/driving lights
-New stereo
-New steering wheel, or more likely, a good steering wheel cover (any recommendations?)

That's probably it for now. Looking forward to learning from the community.

Here's a pic:
